The
quality of your bridge depends not only on well it is designed, but
how well it is built. Like playing the piano, drawing a picture,
or cooking, you need to understand your tools and need to practice a
lot to get a good result. In this section, I describe how to set
up your work place, and the
tools you need to measure,
cut and
glue your wood.
How we
talk about wood
I will
often refer to pieces of wood by their measurements. For example
a piece of wood that is 36 inches long, 3 inches wide and 1/16 inch
thick is called a 36" x 3" x 1/16" piece. This is pronounced
"Thirty six by three by one sixteenth".
